The second book on the city's history was published in 2025 to mark the city's 200th anniversary as one of the 200 anniversary highlights. It covers the city's history after the Second World War up to 2025. The articles compiled by editor Christoph Lorke shed light on Gütersloh's multifaceted history.
A collaboration between the Department of Culture, the Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL Institute for Westphalian Regional History) and the Research Center for Contemporary History in Hamburg (academic institution at the University of Hamburg).

On the occasion of the 60th birthday of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Gütersloh journalist Markus Corsmeyer documented the development of Gütersloh from 1949 to the present day: from reconstruction through the wild 1960s to the redesign of Gütersloh's city center. He illustrates the history with many photos, explains the connections with the help of timelines and thus makes it easier to classify the local or regional history in that of the FRG.

It depicts the spherical maple and the circular bench surrounding it, which together form the landmark of the Gütersloh Botanical Garden. And because none of the 170,000 annual visitors has to pay even one Euro for admission, a 0 Euro collector's ticket is the perfect souvenir after a visit to the "Green living room". With a circulation of 10,000 notes, it is intended to be a collector's item, a souvenir and an advertising medium for the Botanic Garden alike.

Matthias Borner's Gütsel Täschken comes in plain black, decorated with 34 typical East Westphalian terms from the city expert's dictionaries Pölter, Plörre and Pinöckel. Words such as Bollerbuxe and Schlürschluck are printed in color and show the wearer's love of the region from afar. The Täschken is a reusable bag that consists of 100% recycled PET bottles (polyethylene terephthalate) and can even be returned to the recovery cycle itself - it is fully recyclable.
Folded, the bag fits in any handbag, if you unfold it, the small pouch in which she can be cuddled together, serves as a practical inner compartment.
