Painted electricity boxes in the city center

Historically designed electricity boxes beautify the city center

Since the beginning of September, historically decorated electricity boxes can be discovered in the streets of Gütersloh city center.

In close cooperation with the Gütersloh city archives, historical motifs were selected for the design, which were interpreted by the artists in their own style. The boxes, which were provided by Netzwerkgesellschaft Gütersloh, shine partly in bright colors, partly in a historical sepia look - fitting for the upcoming city anniversary.

Konrad-Adenauer-Platz

Strenger Street

Artist Enrico Lein has combined two historical motifs on the electricity box he painted. On the one hand, Lina Stern is depicted in the immediate vicinity of the stumbling block that was dedicated to her in 2006. Lina Stern worked as a piano teacher and lived in Gütersloh until she was deported to Theresienstadt at the age of 83. The other is the home of former councillor Carl Heinrich Strenger, who donated his house to the city as a poorhouse after his death.

Ernst-Buschmann-Straße

The former principal of the Altstadtschule Ernst Buschmann and the Buschmann chronicle he wrote can be seen in Ernst-Buschmann-Straße. This electricity box was designed by the artist Sven-Rowlands-Hügle.

Theodor-Heuss-Platz

The old Paul Thöne Halle can now be seen on Theodor-Heuss-Platz opposite the Edelweiss restaurant. The artist Sven Rowlands-Hügle has transformed another box right next to it into a beer bottle from Richard Plange's old Gütersloh brewery.

Theodor-Heuss-Platz

Another electricity box on Theodor-Heuss-Platz was designed by Gütersloh graffiti artist Philipp Kowalski. It shows the water tower in front of a colorful background design.
